Simutaneous interpretation at conferences, forums and training seminars
Simutaneous interpretation is one of the most difficult types of interpretation performed using special equipment for simultaneous interpretation. Thanks to the equipment used, the translator translates simultaneously with the speaker's speech; the latter does not need to pause for the translator to have time to translate.
This simultaneity of the perception of oral speech and the generation of translation is the main feature of simultaneous interpretation. Special equipment is a simultaneous interpretation system (either stationary or operating on the basis of wireless speech transmission), usually a stationary or collapsible booth (booth), where the simultaneous interpretation installation is located, including two pairs of headphones and a microphone for interpreters, as well as a set of headphones or portable receivers according to the number of participants requiring translation.
During the interpretation, the simultaneous interpreter is in an isolated booth wearing soundproofed headphones so that his own voice does not drown out the speaker's voice. With the help of amplification equipment, the translation is delivered to the listeners through headphones. Simultaneous interpretation technologies are usually used to organize events involving large numbers of people and held in large conference rooms or auditoriums such as conferences, seminars, presentations, etc.
Due to the extreme complexity, simultaneous interpretation requires very thorough and lengthy training. In addition, the implementation of simultaneous interpretation requires maximum mental stress and therefore the possibility of its implementation is not available to everyone.
We provide the following types of simultaneous interpretation
- Simutaneous interpretation "by ear", when the simultaneous interpreter perceives the continuous speech of the speaker through the headphones and translates in blocks, as information becomes available. The most common and most difficult case.
- Simultaneous "sight translation" with or without preliminary preparation. The simultaneous interpreter receives the written text of the speaker's speech in advance and performs the translation in accordance with the materials provided, making the necessary adjustments as the speech unfolds.
- Simultaneous reading of previously translated text. A simultaneous interpreter, following the speaker's speech, reads out a prepared text, and, if necessary, makes adjustments if the speaker deviates from the original text during his speech.
